Cavity Wall Insulation
An incredible 35% of our domestic heat is lost through our un-insulated cavity walls. The Energy Savings Trust has calculated that an average household (semi detached house) could save up to £145.00 on its heating bills per year by installing cavity wall insulation, and save 600Kg of CO2 per annum and reduce their carbon footprint.
If your house was built after 1930, then there is a good chance that the walls will be constructed of 2 layers (skins) of brick with a gap or cavity between them. Cavity wall insulation fills that gap.
SEAL Energy Ltd uses the Instafibre blown mineral wool system. Once installed in the cavity wall, this forms an insulative heat retaining barrier, which radiates your heat back into the home.
Our technicians drill a series of holes approximately 22mm in size at set intervals of 1.35m or less (the pattern) in the outside wall of your home. Our Instafibre blowing machines will then blow material into the cavity after which we fill the holes up with a mortar mixed to match the original, so that you don’t notice them. An average installation takes between 2 – 3 hours and we tidy up afterwards.
After the work is completed you will find that you need your heating on less and more easily maintain a constant comfortable temperature throughout the home. Condensation will be minimized and gaps around badly fitting door and window frames eliminated. Your home will be warmer and cheaper to run.
The Instafibre system is used extensively all over the country and has been approved and certified by the British Board of Agrément (BBA). All of our cavity wall installations are backed up by a 25 year independent guarantee issued by the Cavity Insulation Guarantee Agency (CIGA).
Generous grants from government and fuel utilities are available to encourage householders to insulate their homes - see if you qualify in the section on Prices and Funding.
